Open Air Art Book Fair is an annual art book fair held out in the open on the island of Långholmen, centrally located in Stockholm. The fair is organized by Moon Space Books and takes place during one day in June. The focus of the fair is independent art and photo book publishers, as well as self-publishing artists.
The fair has only one rule – no tables! Instead each exhibitor displays their work on a blanket of their own, creating a mass-picnic of sorts. The main purpose is not that of merchandise, but of exchange of ideas and experience. We also want to show the creative activity that often takes place behind close doors or in a small group of initiates. By placing the fair outdoors in a popular summer spot in Stockholm, the exhibitors get a chance to reach a wider audience. Each participant is welcome to sell their work or to just show it. There is no fee to join the fair, and we as organizers take no percentage of the sales.
